Data Center Technician
Worked as a Technician in the Yahoo Data Centers that consisted of server, network and storage devices. Responsibilities were to install various types of hardware such as Dell, HP, Rackable, Supermicro, NetApp, CISCO, and Cyclade devices. After server installation, was responsible to perform OS installation of Linux, RHEL, Windows, and FreeBSD software via network, using a jumpstart host. Responded to various ticket repair request for troubleshooting, break/fix incidents, replacing internal components such as disk drives, CPU's, Memory, motherboards, power supplies, etc. Entered and update trouble tickets using the Siebel ticketing system.
- Installed and terminated CAT5/6 and fiber cable to patch panels, servers, consoles, and network switches, and storage arrays.
- Maintained the Operations asset management database, which included updating and entering data for all pieces of hardware that entered and was removed from the Data Center.
- Respond to pages for system outages or problems detected within the center, working with various departments to resolve any hardware of software issues, in a timely manner.
- Performed system upgrades and emergency repairs to devices through a Change Management process.
