One of Eight Core Volunteers, Publicist, Volunteer Recruiter and Coordinator

As one of a handful of core volunteers on the [company name] who recruited, trained and managed hundreds of volunteers, as well as having saved a beautiful historic landmark, my core responsibilities were to write news releases and schedule news conferences during a very busy community-wide effort to save Downtown Dayton's last theatre. This historic facility, which still resides on the corner of First and Main Streets in Downtown Dayton is now called The Victoria Theatre and, according to community leaders, not only reversed the downward-spiraling decay of the downtown area, but also planted the seed for two other downtown theatres and a Class-A baseball stadium. The Victoria Theatre Association's web site (http://www.victoriatheatre.com) refers to the association as: "one of Dayton's premier not-for-profit arts organizations. We present more than 300 performances for all ages each year, operate and maintain three vital arts facilities for the benefit of the community and the arts organizations that use them, and further serve the community with a thriving restaurant and catering business in the heart of downtown Dayton." We saved this wonderful historic landmark with the participation of a great many, willing, grass-roots volunteers, along with WTUE Late Shows and rock concerts. Since then, I have returned occasionally to volunteer as an usher to again see what I helped save and to see a wide range of entertainment options--which we only dreamed about during the "Save the Victory" days. Also see: Assistant House Manager, Victory Theatre Association (above).
