How to Format a Behavior Technician Resume
Although there are countless ways to format your resume sections, we strongly advise using one of the three commonly recognized resume formats to write your behavior technician resumes. These three formats use a familiar layout and, therefore, are easier for hiring managers and software to scan for section headings and crucial information. For example, Candidate A has over two decades of experience working with children and providing behavioral analysis. The resume is the best format for them because it dedicates the bulk of the resume space to a lengthy work history section.
Candidate B has four years of education experience, but they recently changed to social support as a behavior technician. They can use a functional resume to highlight transferable skills such as parent-child engagement and presentation skills while demonstrating their new behavioral training and qualifications.

An effective resume summary does not drown a hiring manager with information — it strategically highlights one to three relevant skills and an accomplishment to demonstrate your understanding of the open role and requirements.
Let’s compare bad and good examples of two potential behavior technician summaries.
Good example:Certified behavior technician with over eight years of experience at a small township’s school district and a private learning development center. Holds a bachelor’s degree in education focusing on child development, special education and applied behavior analysis.
Bad example:Experienced behavior technician with five years of experience. Eager to support a local school district with special education needs. Ready to start immediately.
