Assistant Track and Field Coach
As an assistant for three seasons helping coach the men and women's track and field team at CCSF. My duties included setting up equipment for drills (for example mini hurdles, hurdles, weighed sleds and parachutes) to working with the short sprinters and our field athletes to provide education, demonstrating proper form and technique in their specific events.
- Supervise all weight room activities related to our track and field athletes. During competition, my responsibilities include driving the team to our specific track meets, recruiting new athletes, running our summer practice sessions and preparing athletes to perform at their maximum level.
- Assisting in the programming and teaching of sprint fundamentals to the CCSF team is a key factor in order to have our athletes be successful in the 100-meter, 200 meter, 800 meter and even onto the longer distance runs. Responsibilities included demonstrating and providing sufficient cues for the athletes to respond to when performing high velocity sprints. Cues such as "ankles up", "knees up", "hips up", staying tall keeping the core braced and an aggressive arm action. These cues are related to proper spring performance-Instructing and programming all weight room activities for the CCSF team.
- Some of the athletes at the end of the track season have received scholarships to Division I and Division II schools which provides an opportunity for them to compete at a higher level and get a free education. The successes of my former athletes show results from a highly successful program and success of the coaching style I prepare for the athletes as well as the other coaching staff as a team.
