Electrician's Mate Third Class
Operates standard test and metering equipment including multi-meter, voltmeter, ammeter, oscilloscope, stroboscope, voltage tester and wattmeter. Troubleshoot lighting circuits and power circuits for grounds and short circuits. Conduct maintenance on AC and DC motors and generators; replace bearings; repair small boats electrical systems; computes resistance, current, voltage, phase angle and impedance. Interpret schematics and electrical blueprints. Troubleshoot auxiliary equipment that include low pressure compressors, high pressure compressors, reverse osmosis units and air conditioning control circuits. Act as lead worker for subordinates.
- Qualified as Engineering Duty Officer. Supervisor of electric and propulsion plant and ships casualty control training while in port. Authorizing Officer for Tag Out maintenance and contractors work orders.
- Qualified as Assistant Engineering of the Watch. Supervisor of engineering watch standers and ships electric plant control console operation while at sea.
- In charge of Tag Out program and Electrical program.
