Journeyman Refrigeration Mechanic / Refrigeration Foreman
Use electrical schematics and digital multi meters to diagnose, repair/replace all electrical/electronic systems on refrigerated container vans, built from 1975 to 2001, to include: motors, contactors, relays, microprocessors, motherboards, sensors, humidistat, safety switches and heat switches. Diagnose, repair and replace all refrigeration components (direct expansion, semi and fully hermetic) to include: compressors, condensers coils, receiver tanks, dryers & expansion valves.
- Responsible for organizing and maintaining inventory stock levels to service up to eight thousand refrigerated vans annually.
- Voted Union Shop Safety Officer in 2000-2003. Performed monthly shop safety inspections and ensured that shop was maintained at OSHA standards.
- Acted as relief shop foreman when shop foreman was on annual leave. Coordinated & directed six shop mechanics, three refrigeration mechanics and one parts man in the daily maintenance & repair of all Horizon Lines & Maersk Terminal equipment. Approved purchase orders of equipment & parts; Generate billing of parts & services rendered to Maersk. Updated service records of all Horizon Lines Equipment. Posted weekly work schedules and dispatched additional temporary labor as needed.
- Trained six mechanics in the field of refrigeration.
