CBP Officer In-bond Program Coordinator
Successfully administered the In-Bond Cargo Program, which tracks and controls cargo transported under a Customs bond. Conducted complex audits and investigations of entities engaged in the import/export of cargo. Which required gathering information, in depth analysis, research, decision making, problem solving, the use of written and oral communication, and utilizing comprehensive knowledge of relevant statutes and regulations.
- CBP Superior Achievement Award for work as In-Bond Coordinator resulting in the discovery of major violators and an increase in fines at the Port of Oakland from less than $1 million annually to $3-5 million annually. Independent audit by KPMG and CBP Headquarters in 2013 resulted in the Port of Oakland being recognized as having the most detailed, comprehensive, and well-run In-Bond program in the nation.
- As a subject matter expert on CBP regulations and procedures conducted formal and informal outreach with the local Trade community. Provided guidance regarding compliance with CBP regulations during various seminars and meetings with brokers, carriers, facility operators, importers, and representatives for major corporations.
- Successfully developed and maintained strong working relationships with Import Specialists, Entry Specialists, HSI Special Agents, and employees of other government agencies. Which enhanced CBP's ability to gather data, share expertise, and perform analysis resulting in the detection of major violators.
