VOIP Telecom and Networking Engineer
Responsible for providing remote and onsite support for roughly 40-50 3rd party clients for whom we manage individually hosted, Asterisk based VOIP PBX(s). VOIP systems were hosted on CENT-OS servers, running the Asterisk freeware PBX application, using the front end GUI named Elastix and FreePBX, alongside several modules that provide extra features which varied from client to client.
- Worked with a small 3 person team of VOIP Telecom engineers, providing assistance over the phone and onsite when needed, fulfilling a variety of requests including provisioning new phones , extensions, ring groups, programming IVR's, Hunt groups, custom queues, etc.
- Paid weekly visits to client sites to troubleshoot, upgrade and replace equipment such as routers, POE switches and VOIP phones as needed. At times having to run and terminate network cables, setup battery backup APC hardware along with configuring VLANs and QOS in order to ensure efficient use of network bandwidth, provide maximum uptime and proper automated failovers to secondary lines when available.
- This position was only a one month freelance contract position. I was brought on board to assist with the installation, training and troubleshooting of a variety of brand new clients which had just come onboard, for which they needed additional temp staff to help out with the initial onboarding phase.
