Sonographers use imaging procedures instead of exploratory surgery or radiation in order to, primarily, check unborn fetuses during prenatal care. Sonography can also be used for imaging sensitive areas like the abdomen, breasts, or brain. Sample resumes of Sonographers show such skills as informing the radiologist of diagnostic impressions for examinations performed, and assisting patients for exam preparation by walking them to the exam room, helping them lie on the table, and lifting or moving the patient. Applicants must show either a two or four-year degree in a related field on their resumes, with a two-year degree being more common.
