Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Senior Tech

Complete teardown and rebuild of the MRK18 LVSR for the USMC

  • Paired with another mechanic to teardown vehicle to its chassis. As a team, removing all cab armor (including glass), cab armored doors, cab, fan tower assembly, turret and radio antenna mounts, air intake assembly, fuel cell, muffler and all stowage boxes, power pack (engine & transmission), steering and main hydraulic pumps, transfer case, FLA support, LHS hook assembly, all COEI, and all rear roller and skid-plate assemblies. Once disassembly is complete, the vehicle is steamed and brought back to the team for the rebuild. The rebuild process began with a complete service to each of the five axles: planetary geared hubs disassembled, cleaned, inspected and reinstalled with new oil and CTIS seals. All steering components and tie rod assemblies were serviced, ball joints inspected for excessive play, brake shoes and drums replaced and all new wheel assemblies were installed. Aside from all rubber hoses being replaced (100%) any additional repairs would fall under IROAN (inspect, repair only as needed) during the reassembly of the vehicle.
  • Responsible for over-seeing nineteen (19) HEMs. Duties: ensure all employees in immediate section fill out time sheets legibly, accurately and submit them to supervision at the end of each week, submit leave slips to management on behalf of employees, track attendance of those in my section, and distribute information as needed by upper management to include safety training.
  • Assigned to the Capsule Rebuild section. Responsible for Prepping the bare capsule for the installation of all interior components and installing all interior electronics, to include the Power Distribution Center (PDC) and Main Power Disconnect, all dash electronics and panels, the entire electrical wiring system, Go-Light controls, interior trim, TOCNET communication system (radios) and antenna cables, Check 6 (rear camera) and DVE (thermal night vision) video cables and electronic controls, front and rear A/C units and all plumbing, treadle valve assembly and all related air lines, crewmember seats, GFE rack, gunner's platform, all FSS (Fire Suppression System) electronics and manual override controls, all upper steering components and column assembly, armored doors, armored glass and turret.
  • Promoted to Senior Tech. (working Lead) on 8-6-14. Responsible for over-seeing thirty one (31) HEMs and one (1) Electronic Technician.
