Consultant (power Supply/hardware Engineer)

Design bi-directional 5KW inverter system module with expansion parallel capabilities of 5KW increments. The input battery voltage ranged from 40Vdc to 65Vdc for a maximum input current of 145 amps. The inverter incorporated selectable outputs of 120Vac, 208Vac, 230Vac and 240Vac. The maximum continuous output currents were 42A @ 120Vac and 21A @ 240Vac. The design criteria were based on meeting UL1741 and UL1778 requirements.

  • The inverter circuit topologies that were implemented was an input H-Bridge, high frequency step-up transformer, synchronous rectifiers, output H-Bridge, output filter with bi-directional capability to enable charging of internal batteries.
  • Designed magnetics for step-up forward transformer with operating frequency of 70KHz and magnetics for input low pass filter and Class-D output filter.
  • Design and developed all closed loop control equations and hardware.
  • Supervisory circuitry was implemented for over voltage and current protection, surge protection, fusing and GFIC.
  • SolidWorks was used for Inverter enclosure wiring and assembly drawings.
