Clinical Psychologists work with patients who have mental, emotional and behavioral disorders. Their resumes reflect such skills as providing individual psychotherapy to adults and young adolescents in order to facilitate personal, social, and vocational adjustment; preparing individualized treatment plans to address substance use disorders and other mental health disorders; performing integrated intervention using harm reduction, relapse prevention and cognitive-behavioral strategies; and working with patients suffering with chronic stress, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, grief, and bereavement. Clinical psychologists typically have a doctorate, usually a Psy.D. or a Ph.D., and sample resumes show that their education often includes a one-year internship.
