Independent Telecom Consultant

Consulted with numerous large clients in various roles within the Telecom and Network infrastructure industry specializing in TDM to Voice over IP migrations. Roles included Project manager, Telecom Engineer and Telecom Analyst. Also performed day to day operations on both legacy and IP telephony systems.

  • Consulted as a member of the Voice Solutions Engineering team at Bank of America. Part of the project team migrating various large user population sites from legacy telephony to Cisco VOIP across locations in the US, Canada and Latin America. Worked with the VSE manager to engineer the best Cisco solution for each site utilizing PBX data dumps, reviewing carrier reports and conducting user interviews. Determined router size, phone types and other hardware necessary for the installation. Determined the amount of new carrier circuits required and if new DID numbers were needed or if existing could be reused. Ordered new circuits and DID's through the local carrier and reviewed Telco billing.
  • Served as the onsite telecom engineer for Willkie, Farr and Gallagher in New York City as the voice expert working as a member of their internal IT team. Part of the project team migrating the user population from an Avaya/Nortel CS1000 PBX to Cisco VOIP. Gathered all information from the legacy systems (PBX and Meridian Mail) to migrate into the new Cisco systems (CUCM and Unity) for easier transformation. Also managed the day to day operation of the legacy system saving the customer additional expense of a larger staff.
  • At Thomson Reuters, assisted the Telecom project team with their Avaya/Nortel CS1000 PBX to Cisco Call Manager/Unity VOIP migration. Reviewed all Nortel programming to ensure migration to Cisco was seamless. Met with business managers to review requirements and gather data. In addition to migration work, also managed the Nortel system and Call Pilot voicemail service queues for pre-migration maintenance and MAC work. Programmed and installed new Cisco 79XX phones, CTI points and analog voice gateway ports. Programmed voice mailboxes in Unity and built user profiles. Programmed new phone templates and calling search spaces. Performed maintenance and MAC work on the Cisco platform as well as assisting on large telephony moves and migrations.
  • At Avis/Budget had combined role as a Project Manager/Engineer. As a PM, responsibilities included securing and managing internal and external resources. Created work orders and managed documentation. Attended various weekly project meetings. As an engineer, performed site surveys and assisted in the pricing of projects. Implemented and certified wireless access point installations. Provided technical assistance to external technicians.
