Area Medical Manager

Most recently I managed sales in the Northern Ohio territory, including small parts of Michigan and Indiana, with additional Key accounts responsibility in Michigan and Mid-Ohio. In the course of my Airgas career I have covered various territory combinations within those three states. At all times I assisted my management with territory coverage outside my own as we added representatives and fill plants to the Great Lakes Region.

  • Initially responsible for plant operations, P&L and sales for our Puritan Medical Products fill plant in Livonia, MI prior to rolling completely into Airgas.
  • Responsible for gas sales, packaged (cylinders) and bulk, asset rentals, hard goods sales, and representation of services in our life sciences group (liquid nitrogen freezers sales and service) and our medical services group (medical piping services and piping certification).
  • Signed our largest medical customer in Michigan to a seven year agreement in 2003 and extended that agreement to 2017 in 2006.
  • Signed many hospitals and health systems including, Oakwood Health System, Foote Health System, University of Toledo Main Campus and Health Sciences Campus, St. Luke's Hospital, Mount Clemens General Hospital, Sparrow Health System, MetroHealth Medical Center (unprecedented ten year agreement), Lake Health System, St. Rita's Medical Center, Blanchard Valley Hospital, Fulton County Health Center, with extended agreements signed with University Hospitals Health System, St. John Health System, and Lima Memorial Health System. Also signed a large number of home health care companies in Ohio and Michigan including Wright & Filippis and Senior Home Health Care in Michigan; Promedica Home Medical Equipment's liquid oxygen home program and Lincare in the Cleveland market, after it had been announced by management that their business had not been acquired through high level meetings.
  • Represented the efforts of three primary medical fill plants in my area as well as a few secondary fill plants and multiple industrial branches whose sales representatives I supported in medical requirements.
  • Worked closely with medical national accounts representatives within the company to facilitate proper understanding and implementation of Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs) agreements at health systems, home care companies, fire and EMS departments/companies, and professional offices.
  • Converted all of the Airgas hospital customers in my area to the Walk-O2-Bout integrated delivery system.
  • Completed the most recent fiscal year, ending March 31, 2013, at 103% of budget. Finished other years at 100+% except in years when territories were split among new representatives and plants. Was awarded the President's Club award in 2009 for sales above 104% of budget.
