Gas Station Cashier Job Description

A Gas Station Cashier is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a gas station. They complete many duties in order to maintain the station, which include attending to and assisting customers, accepting payments, stocking the shelves and maintaining station organization, preparing any hot food and maintaining the balance of the cash drawer.

At higher levels, Gas Station Cashiers may also oversee and supervise the Gas Station Attendants. If capable, some even perform maintenance on gas station machines. They typically work right below Assistant Managers and eventually move up to these supervisory roles.

 

Gas Station Cashier Duties and Responsibilities

Operate Register

In order to accept customer payments, the Gas Station Cashier must operate the register as well as the credit card machines. They may be asked to prepare cash for daily deposits and will also have to maintain the register balance.

Clean Station

Gas Station Cashiers are tasked with maintaining clean and orderly stations. This includes servicing and cleaning the public restrooms, cleaning the windows and countertops, vacuuming, sweeping and mopping the floors, and organizing shelves.
